HARRISONVILLE, Mo. —
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said a man missing from the area has been confirmed as a homicide victim in Lafayette County, Missouri.
Police said they have confirmed that Tyler M. Gooding, 25, who has reportedly been missing since last Thursday, was the victim of a homicide in Lafayette County.
On Monday, police said investigators following leads in the case identified a person of interest in Lafayette County. That person was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Ray County after a lengthy pursuit involving numerous law enforcement agencies.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency in the investigation, the Cass County Sheriff said. The person arrested on Monday is currently in custody at the Lafayette County Jail, but he was not identified by police.
“While not the outcome we had hoped for when searching for a missing person, the collective efforts of multiple sheriff offices lead to the identification and arrest of a suspect,” Cass County Sheriff Jeff Weber said.
